The Pink Flight—A photo history
Below are Kyle Buchanan's photos of the Air New Zealand Pink Flight hosted by Kathy Griffin. For his complete story on the flight go to Advocate.com
"The pre-board area, done up like a very futuristic, feathered gay bar."
"Can't you just feel the enthusiasm radiating off my ticketing agent? Talk about your poodle updos."
"After takeoff, Miss Ribena made the rounds to pass out some complimentary champagne."
"Kathy Griffin made the rounds as well, filming season four of My Life on the D-List."
"My seatmate, Cameron, shows off the pink sleeping mask we received in our gift bags."
"Miss Ribena wasn't just one of the most striking flight attendants I've ever had -- she was also among the most generous. You know, in a handing-out-booze way."
"Cameron takes a picture of Alan and Christopher, who celebrated their thirty-second anniversary on the Pink Flight."
"Kathy Griffin strips down to join the Hot Body Contest..."
"...but unlike my neighbor, circuit party veteran Mark, she didn't win a prize."
"This sight on our monitors meant the Pink Flight was about to land..."
"...so I donned Cameron's cowboy hat and prepared to explore the outback."

I think I'd rather slit my wrists than be on this flight. You've made it sound like a true nightmare.

Aw, Sean. Too bad you can't just let others have had their experience. I think that it sounds like any other night in a gay bar, just better planned and with a nice gift bag!

Yes, Sean, a lot of fun nice people would rather slit their wrists than spend an evening with you after you made that comment. Can we all say "boring and jaded"?

I with Sean.

Hey, just sharing my opinion. When I heard about this flight, I thought it had potential to be fun, but after reading the account by Kyle Buchanon (who I must say is a film reviewer I find incredibly pretentious and wrong-headed most of the time) it sounds tedious and the photos indicate the flight was half empty. It seems like a missed opportunity for something unique and colorful.

Having long wanted to go to Australia (& NZ) and appalled by the loooong flight to get there it sure sounds like this sort of thing would give one a bit to remember instead of a slog one hoped quickly to forget.
